About This Compass
This online compass is a free tool that works entirely in your browser — no app to install, no account to create. Just open the page on your phone and you're ready to go.
Heading display: Uses your device's orientation sensor to show which direction you're facing in real time. You'll see both the exact degree and a 16-point compass direction (N, NNE, NE, and so on).
Nav feature: Pick a target direction by combining cardinal points (N, E, S, W) and the compass will highlight it on the dial. When you turn to face that direction, you'll feel a tap of haptic feedback.
Tilt sensor: Shows your device's tilt on the X and Y axes in real time. The bubble in the center of the dial moves with your device, so you can use it as a simple spirit level.
GPS coordinates: Grant location permission and your latitude and longitude will appear. All location data stays on your device — nothing is sent to any server.
How to Use the Nav Feature
The nav feature lets you specify a direction in up to three steps.
Start by picking a cardinal direction (N, E, S, or W) in the first dropdown. Then narrow it down with the second, and optionally the third. For example, choosing S → S → E gives you SSE (157.5°).
Once a target is set, turn until you feel a vibration — that means you're facing the right way.
Compatibility
The compass relies on your device's orientation sensor. It works in Safari on iOS and Chrome on Android, among other supported browsers. On devices without an orientation sensor (most desktop computers, for example), the compass won't function, though the page will still load normally.
GPS coordinates require location permission. If your device or browser doesn't support location services, this feature won't be available.
